Wentworth Moling Services attended the property in Woking to carry out a leak detection survey on the incoming water mains supply.
Visible Inspection:
Water was observed seeping from a rockery embankment. There was no visible water meter, but a stopcock was located at the top of the footpath. When the stopcock on the paved area was turned off, the water flow from the embankment ceased immediately, indicating that the leak is situated close to this location.
Tracer Gas Test:
Tracer gas was introduced into the incoming supply via the garden tap. Readings of 100–300 ppm were detected immediately from the ground at the top of the rockery embankment, confirming the presence of escaping gas – and therefore a leak – in that area.
Acoustic Microphone Test:
Using an acoustic listening device, a clear leak noise was detected below ground within a concentrated area on the embankment.
Conclusion:
The incoming mains water pipe is leaking beneath the soil on the rockery embankment. The suspected leak location has been marked on site using orange marker spray.
