This leak detection report was on a property in Slough.
The customer has a shared supply with their neighbour and thinks here is a leak as their neighbour has low water pressure. The customers water pressure is fine and there was no sign on the property of water leaking.

On visible inspection when arriving at the property, we found out that at the stop tap on the pavement it is shared between 4 of the properties 16, 18, 20, and 22. We still couldn’t find any visible sign of a water leak.
We inserted tracer gas into the mains and the gas was found being released in number 16’s bathroom where the incoming water supply comes out from the ground, the tracer gas measured at 0.25% volume.
We also conducted a pressure test; the water mains pressure was measured at 2 bar indicating the pipe is unable to hold pressure.
We concluded that the leak is on the water mains pipe coming into number 16, which is located directly outside their bathroom. The leak can be heard when tracer gas is inserted as you can hear the gas escaping.
The leak can be repaired by removing the toilet and accessing the tee piece below, this will require the floor and wall tiles to be broken to allow access.
A new water mains supply can be moled from house 16 along the back of the properties leaving the original damaged pipe disconnected, moling will eliminate the leak and possibility of future leaks.
